# Create project

> Creates a project (isolated workspace) with fresh configuration.

**Requires scope:** `api:manage-projects`

No patients, logs, or config carried over from other projects. Requires an org-wide key (a project-locked key gets 403).

## Parameters

  Display name; unique per organization.

<ParamField body="slug" type="str | None">
  The id you later pass to init(project=...) (sent as the X-Olira-Project header). Unique per org, normalized server-side; derived from name when omitted.

  Optional free-text description.
</ParamField>

<ParamField body="environment" type="str | None">
  Optional intent tag: "dev", "staging", or "prod".

`Project` — The created project.

## Raises

| Exception         | When                                                                                                                  |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `AuthError`       | HTTP 401 or 403 — invalid API key or insufficient OAuth scope for this endpoint.                                      |
| `ValidationError` | HTTP 400, 404, or 422 — malformed JSON, unknown patient, or validation failure (message includes response excerpt).   |
| `ServerError`     | HTTP 409 (e.g. conflicting external identifier) or repeated 5xx after retries; includes status\_code when applicable. |
| `RateLimitError`  | HTTP 429 — rate limited; check retry\_after (seconds).                                                                |
| `NetworkError`    | Connection timeout, DNS failure, or read error after retries.                                                         |
