# Duplicate project

> Creates a new project seeded from an existing one's configuration: platform config, population-view pipeline templates, and cohort definitions (empty rosters).

**Requires scope:** `api:manage-projects`

Never copies patients, logs, patient state, or view results. Requires an org-wide key.

## Parameters

  Source project id or slug (any status).

<ParamField body="name" type="str" required>
  Display name for the new project; unique per organization.
</ParamField>

<ParamField body="slug" type="str | None">
  The id for the new project, sent as X-Olira-Project when selecting it. Pass a distinct one to avoid colliding with the source's derived slug.
</ParamField>

<ParamField body="description" type="str | None">
  Optional free-text description.
</ParamField>

<ParamField body="environment" type="str | None">
  Optional intent tag: "dev", "staging", or "prod".

## Raises

| Exception         | When                                                                                                                  |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `AuthError`       | HTTP 401 or 403 — invalid API key or insufficient OAuth scope for this endpoint.                                      |
| `ValidationError` | HTTP 400, 404, or 422 — malformed JSON, unknown patient, or validation failure (message includes response excerpt).   |
| `ServerError`     | HTTP 409 (e.g. conflicting external identifier) or repeated 5xx after retries; includes status\_code when applicable. |
| `RateLimitError`  | HTTP 429 — rate limited; check retry\_after (seconds).                                                                |
| `NetworkError`    | Connection timeout, DNS failure, or read error after retries.                                                         |
